How do I talk to Mochi?

You can type messages in the text input on the home screen, or enable ambient listening in your profile settings. When ambient listening is on, just say "Hey Mochi" followed by your message.

Does Mochi listen to me all the time?

No. Ambient listening is an optional feature that you must enable manually. When enabled, speech recognition runs entirely on your device — no audio is sent to any server. Only the text of your message is processed by our AI when you trigger Mochi directly.

Does Mochi use my camera?

Face awareness is an optional premium feature. When enabled, on-device ML Kit detects basic expressions (smile, surprise) so Mochi can react. No photos or video are captured, stored, or sent anywhere. You can disable this at any time.

What's included in the free tier?

Free users get 5 messages to Mochi per day, 10 memory facts, all touch interactions, focus timer sessions, and spontaneous Mochi behaviors (sounds, mood shifts, animations).

How do I upgrade to Premium?

Tap the Premium card on the profile screen, or you'll see upgrade prompts when you reach your daily message limit. New subscribers get a 7-day free trial. Premium is $8.99/month or $79.99/year (3 months free).

How do I cancel my subscription?

Go to Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iPhone, find Mochipal, and tap "Cancel Subscription". Your premium features will remain active until the end of your billing period.

How do I delete my data?

All your data is stored locally on your device. Simply delete the Mochipal app to remove all data. We do not store personal data on our servers.

Can I rename my pet?

Yes! Go to the profile tab, tap on your pet's name or the edit icon, and choose a new name. Mochi will respond to its new name when you say "Hey [name]".
